Making Lyrics File (Advanced)

The following steps show you how to create a high quality karaoke lyrics file for the song "What a Wonderful World".

Requirement: An audio file(mp3, wma or wav) of the song "What a Wonderful World".

Step 1: Click Open Audio File to open the audio file "What a Wonderful World.mp3".

Step 2: Click Open Lyrics File to open the txt file to import the lyrics. You can also paste or type the text in.

Step 3: This step is optional. Type the title, artist, album, editor and offset in the corresponding fields.

Step 4: Switch to Set Timestamp, click Play to start playback, place the cursor in the waveform area, listen to the music, when the singer begin to sing "I see trees of green", left click the mouse(set the start time of the timestamp), when the singer sung over the words, right click the mouse(set the end time of the timestamp), right click the mouse again(pause the playback).

Step 5: Place the caret just before "g", click Set Syncpoint to set a syncpoint at "g" of "green" of "I see trees of green,". Right click on "I see trees of "(locate its timestamp).

Step 6: Switch to Split Timestamp, estimate the position of the end time of "I see trees of ", and place the cursor there, then left click the mouse(split the timestamp).

Step 7: Switch to Adjust Timestamp, click Play X (or right click on the waveform) to start playback, listen to the music and preview the lyrics. If the start time of "I see trees of " is early or late, adjust it.

Step 8: Adjust the end time of "I see trees of ".

Step 9: Find out the start time of "green,". The end time of "I see trees of " is also the start time of "green,".

If the start time of a lyrics piece is not equal to the end time of the previous one, it is necessary to remove the excrescent timestamp. For example, the line is "I see trees of green, red rose too" and a syncpoint was set at "r" of "red". See the following screenshots.

Step 10: Adjust the end time of "green,".

Step 11: Now, the first line is done, continue to do the rest.

If meet repeated parts, you can use Super Copy Super Copy and Super Paste Super Paste. For example, see the following screenshot:

When you start to do line 28, you can follow the substeps below:

Substep 1: Select line 5 and line 6, then click Super Copy.

Substep 2: Set a timestamp for line 28 and correct its start time, then right click on the timestamp(locate the timestamp).

Substep 3: Select line 28 and line 29, then click Super Paste. After "Super Paste", the copied lyrics pieces will replace the highlighted text, the copied timestamps will be pasted to the current playback position and replace the old timestamps which occupied the corresponding position.

Substep 4: Line 28 and line 29 are done. If you want to undo "Super Paste", click "Undo Edit" and "Undo Timestamp" each once.

Note: It is not necessary to set a timestamp for a blank line. Skip the blank lines.

Step 12: Click Save Lyrics File to save the lyrics file as "What a Wonderful World.vl". Note: This lyrics file is located in ...\VividLyrics\Lyrics(The default is C:\Program Files\VividLyrics\Lyrics).
